Venture is looking for a Director, Strategy with significant health and CPG experience to help build our clients’ brands. We want someone with extensive experience building brands and providing strategic advice to guide marketing, communications and public relations campaigns, particularly with clients in either health care, retail health and consumer packaged goods. A clear thinker and a clear communicator, the ideal candidate is intelligent, curious and, above all else, has an entrepreneurial approach to problem solving.

As a member of Venture’s Strategy community, you will contribute by leading strategy projects and researching, proposing, and writing clear, well-written and compelling insights, in the development of brand and campaign strategies. You will also direct the building of marketing and communications plans, alongside Venture’s community leaders.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading, developing and presenting brand strategies and marketing and communications plans for large and small entrepreneurial companies and organizations
  • Overseeing research programs to inform the development of our clients’ brands and marketing campaigns
  • Writing clear, succinct briefs to guide marketing campaigns and creative platforms
  • Working with client managers to provide ongoing brand leadership for our clients
  • Working with analysts to set goals and objectives for our clients, their brands and campaigns, and to assess campaign performance
  • Remaining current on marketing strategy innovations, to ensure our clients stay ahead of their competition

Required skills and experience:

  • 8+ years of experience and progressive advancement in marketing, communications, business development or public affairs roles, with a preference for some experience in an agency environment.
  • Experience in business analysis and the connection of business strategy to brand and marketing strategies
  • 5+ years experience leading working teams consisting of both direct reports and other colleagues
  • Excellent communication and listening skills
  • Superior writing skills, with a high attention to detail
  • Comfort presenting your ideas to colleagues, our clients and their partners and stakeholders
  • A collaborative and engaging demeanor, with a propensity to propose and share ideas, assist others, and integrate feedback from agency colleagues and clients
  • A knack for success and multi-tasking in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
  • An arts, business, marketing, or communications-related degree from an accredited University is preferred
  • Strong credibility alongside an extensive network in the CPG and/or health industries

Venture has offices in Calgary and Toronto. However, we will entertain candidates seeking to work remotely from other locations.
