First off: this is Arlene Dickinson. You might know her as one of Canada’s leading entrepreneurs. Or maybe you‘ve seen her as one of the stars of CBC’s Dragons‘ Den. Or maybe you’ve checked out one of her two national bestselling books, Persuasion and All In. Or maybe you caught one of her many speaking engagements as the voice of the entrepreneurial movement in Canada.

Overview:

We are currently looking to add a senior strategist to our Calgary team. As the lead Strategic Planner, you will develop and execute a deep understanding of clients’ business models and priorities. As the lead you will provide strategic leadership to the creative and account team, prioritize work, set, support and resource the team to meet annual goals and objectives.

Desired skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Communications, English, Political Science, Public Relations or other related disciplines from an accredited post-secondary institution
  • 5-8 years experience related to the strategic field, including marketing, social media, public relations, or political communications
  • Demonstrated knowledge in developing and executing business and marketing strategies
  • Demonstrated experience in managing large client accounts with multiple objectives
  • Demonstrated experience in coaching teams in the art of strategic thinking

Core Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Facilitate the process to gain buy-in across relevant players within the client organization, and will serve as a partner and consultant to a virtual team of Venture experts as they translate the clients’ business and marketing needs into specific marketing solutions and campaigns
  • Identify and articulate specific routes for clients to employ or improve marketing in the pursuit of their business goals, and will utilize Venture methodologies to develop brand strategies, strategic marketing plans, and marketing measurement solutions (or marketing dashboards)
  • Responsible for leading the strategic thinking as it applies to deliverables and methods Venture employs in helping clients define and achieve their business objectives
  • Design and document the core consulting processes we utilize so that they are repeatable across multiple client engagements, so that they are scalable as our business and employee base grows, and they are customizable to individual client situations
  • Represent Venture in a variety of new business development activities, and will be part of the team that responds to and generates proposals for prospects that are interested in Venture’s offerings
  • Analyze prospects’ planning needs and position Venture’s offerings appropriately
  • Effectively explain each step of the Venture methodology and determine the prospect’s action plan based on their stated requirements and relevant Venture capabilities
  • Play a support role in the creation and delivery of proposals for engaging prospects as Venture clients

Overview

We are currently looking to add a designer to our Calgary team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing creative products, including but not limited to, logos, packaging, infographics, websites, social media channels, banners, and other digital content for entrepreneurial companies.

Desired skills and experience

  • Diploma or Degree in graphic design or visual communications by an accredited post secondary institution
  • Portfolio of work representing 1-2 years of experience building print ready and web based graphics
  • Demonstrated skilled knowledge in: InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Power Point, Keynote, Microsoft Word
  • Ability to estimate projects, take direction from Creative Directors and deliver on time
  • Proven written communication skills
  • Provide a list of photographers, illustrators, web designers and writers they will be working with if needed

Your duties will include but not be limited to

  • Responsible for the design of creative products for clients, and occasionally the development of self-promotional materials
  • Works with the Account Director, the Creative Director to develop creative concepts, layouts, designs for all media, choosing appropriate style to meet client objective and working within established client style guides
  • Creates designs, concepts, and sample layouts based on knowledge of layout principles, esthetic design concepts, knowledge of industry software and communication standards
  • Applies critical thinking to ensure our executions are delivering the greatest results for our clients and greatest response from our consumers
  • Responsible for working within timelines and within budget
  • Quality control to ensure final work conforms to brand guidelines or client requirements in the correct formats and to expected standards
  • Stays on top of current trends and new opportunities to bring our messages to life

Overview

We are currently looking to add a communications specialist to our Calgary team. In this role, you will primarily be responsible for developing digital content and executing public relations and social media campaigns for entrepreneurial companies.

Desired skills and experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Communications, English, Political Science, Public Relations or other related disciplines from an accredited post-secondary institution
  • 1-2 years experience related to the communications field, including marketing, social media, public relations, or political communications
  • Demonstrated knowledge in developing and executing social media campaigns
  • Demonstrated experience in managing social media accounts
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing public relations strategies and products, including crafting traditional press releases and digital content

Your duties will include but not be limited to

  • Working with Account Manager to develop communications strategies and products
  • Understand brand positioning and broad strategic goals and incorporating them into communications strategies
  • Developing and executing content marketing campaigns
  • Developing and executing social media campaigns, including coordinating with creative to write twitter, facebook, and Instagram copy
  • Developing and executing public relations campaigns and tactics, including developing engagement strategies, writing traditional and digital news copy
  • Work with digital analytics to identify effective tactics and refine execution of products

Overview

We are currently looking to add an account & project manager to our Calgary team. In this role, you will primarily be responsible for working with clients to identify their needs, and working with a team to deliver high quality marketing products on time and on budget.

Desired skills and experience

  • A post-secondary degree from an accredited University in Business, Communications or a related discipline
  • Demonstrate understanding of marketing strategy, tactics, and objectives
  • Ability to take complex ideas and explain to clients
  • Demonstrated management experience in marketing and/or the communications field
  • Proven experience in managing teams of people, and in working cross-functionally across an organization
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong understanding and continuous execution of the fundamentals of project management, including: scoping project specifications, scheduling, and change management

Duties and responsibilities

  • Actively participate in the servicing of Venture customer accounts with a focus on building customer loyalty, maintaining customer relationships and generating additional service opportunities
  • Deliver Client Contact reports, Budget control reports, and develop accurate estimates in a timely and appropriate manner
  • Have face to face meetings with the clients assigned and manage the relationship in a professional, ethical and disciplined manner
  • Work with other Communities to integrate Venture’s offerings into a holistic approach based on the customers’ needs
  • Work to deliver Venture brand consistently and effectively to all existing and new clients
  • Create, document and execute project work plans as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements
  • Coordinate internal team meetings across cross-functional groups to develop and manage project timelines
  • Provide regular schedule updates to Venture point-person
  • Administer scope changes – communicating budget and timing implications to internal team members
  • Work with the Production department to determine third party project costs
  • Oversee costs against budgets for each project and notify client managers when variances occur
  • Assist Accounting and Client managers with the invoicing/billing process to ensure all costs and billable time are correctly captured and passed through to the client

Overview

We are currently looking to add a web developer to our Calgary team. This role is a junior developer position, primarily responsible for maintaining / building websites and email campaigns for entrepreneurial companies.

Desired skills and experience

  • Experience in HTML, CSS, javaScript and jQuery a must
  • Experience in PHP and MySQL a must
  • Prior agency or production house experience a plus
  • Experience in mainstream frameworks/systems like Wordpress/Drupal/Shopify a major plus
  • Familiarity with bash and LAMP stacks a plus
  • Experience coding with source control a must
  • 2-3 years prior development experience a must
  • Ability to work independently a must
  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe After Effects and Adobe Illustrator with the ability to convert designs into interactive media a plus
  • Excellent working knowledge of cross-platform browser support a plus
  • Experience building dynamic ads a plus

Duties and responsibilities

  • Performs front-end development tasks with HTML, CSS, JavaScript and jQuery
  • Performs back-end development tasks with PHP and MySQL
  • Builds brochure sites, sometimes with eCommerce tie-ins
  • Constructs rich, multi-part marketing emails
  • Slices and manipulates Photoshop documents and other art assets for development use as needed
  • Is aware of and designs/codes to minimize cross-browser/platform rendering issues
  • Employs SEO best practices with all development efforts
  • Writes w3 validated code and adheres to defined web standards
  • Passionately follows the latest technology with a keen eye for social media trends and emerging platforms
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and assignments
  • Is willing to take a web development test as part of the interview process
