First off: this is Arlene Dickinson. You might know her as one of Canada’s leading entrepreneurs. Or maybe you‘ve seen her as one of the stars of CBC’s Dragons‘ Den. The graphic designer is responsible for all stages of craftsmanship, precision and quality control This position will effectively deliver Venture’s final printed and digital product on time and on budget. The graphic designer must have a keen understanding of Venture’s process and work directly with the production managers, creative director, art director’s, designer’s and any other studio artist’s. The graphic artist is expected to bring a senior level of knowledge and can effectively make decisions in all these areas of print and digital production: color separation, checking files for pre-press, optimizing ads for digital display, resizing ads for print and web development, trouble shooting corrupted ad files, font management, archiving and backing up files. The role requires strong organizational and interpersonal skills and the ability to adapt to a changing technological environment.

Desired skills and experience:

  • Ability to create artwork that conforms to the style and content specifications provided by the Creative/Art Director and Project Managers.
  • In depth knowledge of InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop (CC) and Microsoft Office programs.
  • Advanced working knowledge of digital advertising. Able to oversee and occasionally create static and animated digital ads. Understands HTML5.
  • A strong design sense with outstanding typographic skills and keen eye for details.
  • Able to format and combine text, numerical data, photographs, charts, and other visual graphic elements to produce print-ready material.
  • Knowledge of 4 color, spot and digital printing process and prepress requirements.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities against tight timelines.
  • Flexible and able to adjust to shifting priorities.
  • Maintain photo and logo libraries, as well as final art archives.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Experience with image retouching is also an asset.
  • Experience with template design for Microsoft PowerPoint and Word would be a bonus.
  • Working knowledge of PowerPoint.
  • Working knowledge of After effects.

We are currently looking to add a full time Content & Social Writer to our Calgary team. This role is responsible for developing predominantly digitally-consumed and social-media-based written content under the direction of the Director of Content and Social Media. The successful candidate will have proven experience writing for a variety of media channels, across various industry topics.

The successful candidate will have proven creative, strategic and communications skills with dedicated experience with international social media accounts (both existing and start-up-based), and a thorough understanding of content marketing principles and SEO.

Core Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Copywriting and proofreading in a wide variety of styles, tones and formats
  • Researching, writing and editing pieces for marketing communications campaigns, predominantly in the form of web content, blog posts, articles, white papers, and social posts
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment with multiple simultaneous assignments
  • Inherent understanding of writing for a target audience(s) and with specific marketing campaign objectives in mind
  • Collaborate in the creation of client content calendars; establishing workflow of creation, editing and publishing of content
  • Proactively proposing new, innovative, sharable content ideas
  • Establish strong cross-departmental relationships
  • Develop and generate meaningful, shareable content that incites action and engagement (short form copywriting, microcontent)
  • Create, manage and execute content strategies by translating overall brand strategy into campaigns on appropriate social media channels

  • Development of social media playbooks and How-To documents that comply with up-to-date, international rules, regulations and policies

  • Creation of Digital Personas from strategic audience research
  • Recommend SEO strategies working with in-house team

Desired skills and experience:

  • 3-5 years in a related capacity (copywriting, journalism, public relations)
  • Superior grammar skills and high attention to detail
  • Demonstrated experience with social media content creation (including blog writing, promotional campaign creation, and infographics) across various channels and media types
  • Established written portfolio
  • Proven experience writing for SEO and implementing SEO approaches
  • Strong time management skills
  • Firm understanding of brand strategy and development
  • Proven understanding of content marketing and social media marketing
  • Demonstrated competency on all social media channels, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, G+ and YouTube
  • Proficiency in WordPress and Adobe Design Suite considered assets.
  • Implement brand reputation management components for review sites such as YELP and Google Review

Job description

Venture is seeking a client marketing manager to actively participate in the servicing of Venture's key customer accounts with a focus on building customer loyalty, maintaining customer relationships, and generating additional service opportunities.

The ideal candidate will have 3 years of experience in a marketing and/or communications field, and should have a university degree in the social sciences, including communications, English, political sciences, history, or something similar.

The candidate's responsibilities will include:

  • Actively following the Venture process for delivering marketing programs.
  • Delivering client contact reports, budget control reports, and the development of accurate estimates in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Routinely holding face-to-face meetings with the clients assigned to them, as well as managing the relationship in a professional, ethical, and disciplined manner.
  • Working with other communities to integrate Venture’s offerings into a hollistic approach based on the customers’ needs.
